Donating is voluntary. This topic has been discussed at length before. To many of us, the interweb is a free resource and should cost nothing, and the value we give is in the information we share.

I forgot to add... a spinning coin means trustworthy to me.

That's all.

Great coffee, cigars and whiskey. Love them all.

Not JUST a Spinning coin... come on. I do research on everything I buy too.

A buyer has to take responsibility for what they do too. How long are we going moan about TL?? The guys did a great job busting him. Congratulations!!

CB, you've hit on exactly my point.  As I stated early on, this isn't a discussion about donations for any other purpose than what it says about the individual.  To me it means the individual is interested in more than just himself/herself.

With that said, I simply state that there seems to be a connection between individuals with sales but no contribution and negative issues showing up in the BZ.  Maybe just another tool to use when deciding to purchase.

I already mentioned TL, and to repeat, spinning coin not equal to green light.

High volume sellers are profiteers and nothing more.  Each may have their own spin on it, be it nice guy, banter in the chat room, post in the other rooms on this site, or what have you.  But ultimately they are here to make money off of people who are here because they love this hobby of ours, the smoking fine cigars.  I do not do business with them regardless of whether they have a spinning quarter under their avatar or not becuae I choose not to patronize opportunistic, parisitic, douchbags.  The fact that their prices are always a bit, (or a LOT), higher than they should be, and that they most often do not donate to this site just makes not buying cigars from them a little more gratifying, nothing more.

Qualification:  I'm not talking about the guy who has fallen upon hard times and has to sell off a bunch of his stock to make ends meet.  I'm not talking about the occasional seller.  I'm not talking about the guy who enjoys horse trading with other guys as a bigger part of the hobby then mostothers.  I'm talking about the guy described in the OP only.

My first and only sale, I made sure to make a proceed to the site.  It is only right...for me.

I'm not going to preach that everyone should donate, but do what you feel is right.  However if you are making sales frequently, you are exploiting Wade's generosity of keeping this place alive.

I donate to Wade cause I believe he is a good guy, has a great site and Great beans! :D

I have never sold anything here but I buy on rep!

As with everything I purchase, trust your source or as RR coined, "Trust but Verify"! Pretty simple IMO :)

I think the point is being missed.  The issue is not how one feels about donations, but whether or not this has any impact on your decision to buy from an individual.

To clarify:  It used to make a difference, a couple years back when I began using this site again.  But no more.  And I wouldn't be surprised if your observation is correct.  But I will still hesitate regardless of the spinning coin or not if I don't yet know the seller.
