Well, yesterday was the day. Just shy of 12 weeks after my fall in Honduras, I arrived home. A year of outpatient PT & OT lay ahead of me, but my functioning isn't half bad right now. I can get around okay for short distances on crutches, a wheelchair for longer lengths. I have between 110 & 115 degrees range of motion in both knees. I can do enough stairs to get into and out of my home and I've gotten in and out of several different SUVs with little or no difficulty. Tomorrow I try driving. (Plenty of road on my own property so as to eliminate risk to others until I'm certain that I can function okay behind the wheel). If that goes well I return to work on Monday.

I can't begin to put into words my gratitude for the show of support that members of this forum as well as others have shown throughout this entire ordeal. These were very trying times on a multitude of levels, not just for me, but for my wife and kids as well. And all of the ways that fellow BOTLs showed us love, and kindness really did make a world of difference. We felt very supported and this allowed me to focus on healing while Lisa could focus more clearly on raising our 4 children in my absence. Make no mistake, our fraternity played a role in increasing the speed of my recovery as well as in helping to maintain my family's stability. The words, "thank you", seem to fall so very short, but I can think of no other words that would more effectively convey our gratitude, so I will close by saying thank you and god bless each and every one of you.
