Hey guys,

Thanks for thinking of me.  I'm coming along as best I can.  Lots of OT & PT every day.  My legs will be basicly useless to me for another 2 months or so.  So they're teaching me how to do things to be independant.  It's pain every day with big heaps of fear and discouragement.  But you know what?  I'm grateful.  I will put this behind me some day and be better then I was before it all.  There's nothing perminantly wrong with me.  So things could definately be worse. 

Today I learned to dress myself, (one less thing to rely upon others to do).  I can transfer from bed to a wheelchair like a pro.  I've got a long uphilll climb ahead of me and sometimes things look pretty scary.  The worst is being away from my family.  My wife is the absolute best.  This has put a hugh tax on her, and yet she carries on without so much as a flinch, smiling the entire time.  I don't know where I'd be without her.

Good to hear Big Guy.Women are so strong & caring I just don't know what I would do without wife.I guess the best thing is knowing that she will be there no matter what is thrown at them.
    You will get past this in time Bill,just hang in there.

As today is the one month anniversary of my fall I thought I'd offer up a little update.

This morning I was able to walk 50 feet twice with the assistence of a walker.  Getting on my feet still requires hospital type machinery because I still can't bend my knees.  But it's good to know that once I'm on them I can move about a little.  My thigh muscles are still quite weak from the trauma of the fall as well as from the surgery, but I do feel them getting stronger each and every day.  I can now lift my right leg up into the air from a prone position unassisted, about 3-5 times.  The left leg will take a bit more time, but it will get there.  I work hard in OT to build upper body strength that helps me compensate for my lack of ability to use my legs.  I feel the work paying off there too as I'm able to do more with less effort each day.

My loving wife continues to be my biggest and most important suppport, but a close second are all the guys who PM asking how I'm doing, sending prayers, and wishing well.  Thanks guys, it really does help.
