I think that the post game interviews should focus only on the winners. This is the Super Bowl, the biggest and most watched game in America. Focus on the winners, it's their night. Losers should have a press conference when they get home. Say all you want about being a leader, manning up, etc...until you've lost the Super Bowl and then had a mic stuck in your face you have no clue what you're talking about.

And no, I'm not sticking up for Cam...Panthers are my 2nd team and only because I live 2 hours from Charlotte. Just something I've believed for a while.

I don't necessarily disagree with the idea that it wouldn't be easy to be a graceful loser in that scenario.. I think my biggest issue is this is a guy who constantly tries to improve his public standing under the guise that he genuinely cares about these kids, meanwhile has an excellent opportunity to be a shining example for them and totally shits the bed.

With that said, most in the industry will tell you that Peyton is a complete phony as well.

There are / have been some genuinely high character guys in the NFL, unfortunately it's a safe bet to say they are the exception.

If you are looking for hero's or role models in professional sports you will be sadly disappointed.

I agree completely - pretending that kids don't look up to professional athletes is sticking your head in the sand though...

I don't have kids, so I hesitate to weigh in, but would it be wrong to say it falls to the parents to be responsible for providing an acceptable role model for their children? Kids are products of their environment after all. Maybe it's easier to watch the football game with your kid, instead of something less exciting but more valuable to your child. I suspect all things being equal, we could substitute any nuber of deserving idols in the place of pop-stars and athletes.
I know it's a departure from the thread. Just caught my attention.

I think Ben Rapistburger is a much better role model, say what you will about Cam but I would love to see anyone here handle the pressure that guy handles in a more professional manner. How quickly everyone forgets the manning meltdown, if you are gonna tear the guy apart over avoiding some questions vs allegedly raping women, or any of many allegations other pro football players today are accused of, I'd prefer my kids idolize Cam.

You can't be serious. You're justification for poor behavior is indicative of many issues in our country and how children are raised. WAKE UP!

Be sure and make deposits in all areas of your life, because at some point you will need to make a withdraw. No deposits are more important than those made in relationships.

So because Russel Wilson handles a post game Q&A better than Cam Newton, that makes Cam a bad guy? Again no one here will know what it's like to handle that much pressure, easy to point the finger.

I'd like for anyone criticizing Cam's actions in the press conference to watch the video that shows him overhearing the Denver DC(I think?) being asked about their game plan by the media within hearing distance.  I think that's what prompted him to leave the press conference.

Honestly, I have no use for these post game press conferences where the media asks all of the stupid questions and the athlete gives all of the obvious answers.  It's the same rehearsed BS you hear on a weekly basis and whether it's a coach or player, you never hear an answer that leaves you feeling like you heard something you didn't expect.
