Is anyone reading the news about Libya?

Post by WadeFillingame »

:owned: What a cluster f@%*

The UN takes something like 31 days to make up their minds (glad they don't run SAR ops, nobody would ever survive) on a "no fly zone" and now it looks like everyone involved doesn't like what anyone else is doing and nobody wants to be in charge.

The Brits say Gadhafi is a legit target, the US says no he isn't. Someone is accusing the French of doing this for oil contracts, the Italians say they are pulling their bases if it's not a NATO op, and the Germans are pulling their forces if it is. In the mean time Putin is comparing it to the Crusades and Medvedev is calling him out for that, and the latest trend in media is to send attractive females into chaos in countries where women are treated like property and then try to make it a big story when they get felt up. (I think I got it mostly right, who really knows)

Oh and on the subject of "journalists"  Look at some of the pictures in this article.  I especially like the 2nd and 4th pictures, looks more like a runway event than a war zone.  Do you really think you are going to get anything original when you are shooting with six other photographers?!? Actually that second shot looks more like the end zone at a football game.

I saw Clinton on TV, she said " the usa is not targeting Qaddafi, but we are NOT
telling others what to do". Shouldnt it be a U.N. mission?
163 of 170 sortees were American planes as of early today. 3/23.
All but 3 Tomahawks sent in were usa.
The F/15 that crashed was land launched,  prolly from Turkey,  because F/15`s cant
land or takeoff from carriers, F/18 Super Hornets do that.  I know
Topgun had F/14 Tomcats but they were phased out years ago.

I have, and I don't know what to make of it- at least, our involvement in it.  How big of a threat is Gaddafi(or however the hell you spell his name this decade) as far as the US is concerned?  I mean, it is a civil war.  Yes, its horrible what he's doing to his own people, but there are many other bigger and more dangerous fish in that sea for the US to worry about.  I'm more worried about who steps in behind him, than anything else.

I would agree with this comment. True it's wrong what he is doing to his own people, but we Americans have our own issues to worry and deal with. It's a civil war, not a world, it's really none of our business, but like I said, it's wrong what he is doing to his own people.

It makes you wonder why we (countries) even bother to have and/or participate in the UN if each of us individually keeps sticking our noses into the business of the third-worlders. So it is being said that the UN will now take the lead when, in my personal opinion, it should be [i]only[i] the UN that should have taken any action at all..........assuming they all have their shots up to date.

Is it a shocker that in 2011, Obama does exactly the same thing that he said in 2007 that George Bush didn't have the constitutional authority to do?

Not really that much of a shocker...some of us saw thru the bs and didn't vote for him but "we the people" (whover the hell that is) put the "annointed one" into the White House...they sowed and now they can reap... :finger:

I said from the get go, for a guy that painted himself to be the 180 of GWB, that he would be much like him and even worse.  Unfortunately, he continues to prove me right.

I'm no big fan of GWB myself, but for a man the left protested against in the streets, they've disappeared even though it's the EXACT same stuff going on today than before Obama won.

I'll go ahead and make another prediction-no matter who wins in 2012, we'll see more of the same garbage.
