Board Misrepresentations

Post by mcgoospot »

Not claiming it's intentional but people rely on what is posted as being what the product actually is.  When you post that a cigar is from a certain year (especially CCs) you better be sure of what you are saying because buyers rely upon it.  There are certain vintages that certain buyers avoid like the plague.  They pay extra for certain vintages also.  The age of a CC and the year it was made effects thew value of the cigar dramatically.  To post that a cigar is from 2006 when that cigar was discontinued in 2002 could just be anunintentional mishit of a keyboard.  To post that he was not sure when they were made but that he bought them in 2006 is a misrepresentation which, no matter how you phrase it is wrong.  Obviously the buyer of the package had no clue that these cigars could not be as advertised-his loss I guess.

Sorry about the rant but this stuff pisses me off.

What???  Maybe they already know what?  That the '06 cigars were really from '00 and more likely than not tent pegs? Get real and address the real issue here:  make sure that what you post is correct and truthful.  It's your obligation as the seller since everytime a person on these boards buy fivers, singles, etc... they are relying upon the honesty and integrity of the seller.  Obviously his flippant remark that he bought them in '06 in Switzerland, rather than apology for making a mistake, shows he cared less about the misrepresentation.  Speaks alot fo him.

I rarely post - I prefer to lurk, learn and read; however this issue is an important one in my eyes.

I trust most members of this board implicitly.  I believe the purchasing of an item(s) that are so often faked etc that it is important that this board remain incontestable in regards to the authenticity and genuiness.

I let me guard down here I do not want to have to question every FS thread for authenticity and accuracy.

Maybe I am asking to much to be able to trust - but I am hopeful.

Keep your gaurd up. I bought a fake 5er (not here) and the seller took it back. Some FOG's were leaving good comments for the guy. Now I just stick to buying my own, and only from the few sources I already know.

Hopefully his thrad will be looked at when and if he sells again and others will notice his remarks.

The guy (pajama something) posted he was selling, amounts his package, 3 ERDM lonsdales from '06. The erdm lonsdale was discontinued in 2002. Erdm lonsdales from ,99 and 00 were tent pegs. That was the purpose of my post.

Unfortunately many don't see this as a big deal but it is. There are sellers here who flat out misrepresent their product to move it and people just don't care. Some people lie about their product (EMS) to justify their profits as well. He is not the first and will not be the last. It's a shame people continue to praise and buy from such individuals who have questionable ethics.

By the way I have a box of 2003 ERDM Lonsdales. Very weird box indeed.

Was that posted in the TSBC? I didn't see it; not that I was privy to the information you mentioned, being still a kiddygardner as I am.
