Insurance for high-dollar Habanos shipments

Post by Hotboy »

Do you insure shipments when selling and shipping Cuban cigars? I have not ever had to make a claim, but what about trying to get paid from the USPS for a contraband product that went missing? I would imagine that it might be near impossible to collect.

Is UPS or FedEx any different?  Interested in your experiences & opinions.

I also for the most part only just gone with the inc ins. which is now $100 I think. Now I have had someone that wanted there package shipped overnight and wanted insurance for big dollars. I don't know if you could ever collect if they were damaged. But if the buyer wants to pay $95 to get it  overnight and feels like that is the safest way to get it I am fine with it!
I have only used FedEx to ship wine. Maybe someone that sells a lot more then I do, I am a buyer ;D

Never had a cigar parcel go missing, but I did have UPS steal wine out a wine shipper once.  Auction house refunded me on the stolen magnum of Pio Cesare Barbaresco.  They did not want to deal with the reality of what happened.
