Recommend me a cigar

Post by jbrady33 »

Looking for a certain flavor profile - spicy.
strong, hot sauce/red pepper

Have been given recommendations in the past but they just aren't - for example LFD double ligero.  Strong? yes  Black Pepper?  yes .  Red Pepper spicy  - no

leather , earth, dark coffee - all things I'm NOT looking for.  tons of sticks with those flavors, seems like a cut& paste in every description

The closest things I have ever found are OpusX and Diesel Whiskey Row Bourbon.

OpusX WAY more of that flavor than the Diesel, but seem you have to be a Saudi Prince or Vegas high-roller to get them anymore.  (Used to be able to brown bag my lunch and pick up the '2 a day per person' limit from Holts at MSRP, that's long gone)

SO what'cha got?  The Spicy hot sauce Opus flavor also had wonderful dark fruit/floral notes - love that too

I remember the 2 per size per customer per day at the local shop. Problem with that was is I'd come back the next day and do it again and the old man would get bent out of shape because he felt like I was trying to hog them! He didn't know that I was hitting their other two stores on the same days! I actually think he used to hide them back then. Lol

I really like the opus. Just not good enough for the price imo. I don't like to spend that kind of money on a cigar anymore.

I don't know what to tell you personally. I don't know think too much about all those flavors people pick up when they smoke cigars. I ei like a cigar or I don't! Keep looking because I'm sure it's out there somewhere.

LOL at partagas habanero! Actually a smoke I really like.

Seems like you need to try some lesser known brands and boutiques in your quest.

Try some stuff from Donny Peeps like Le Bijou, Original Blue Label or the Mi Amor Reserve, made for Ashton by him

Jeff, you might want to try the Isabela Cigar Co. Super Corona...$8.95. I bought a fiver of these after reading a review by Katman. I will warn you that the tips are sweetened but it goes away about 1/3 way through the cigar. I picked up some peppery flavors with these and recommend you give them a try, could be right up your alley.
