Here is a question- Just how much do non-cuban brands misrepresent their age statements on their cigars? Ex., Perdomo 12 year aged. Aged 10 years and finished in bourbon barrels for 2 years.
I find it hard to believe the majority of NC aged stated cigars are truly aged to their advertising for a variety of reasons. Maybe there are not strict regulations around branding/age statements with tobacco?
This is not about fermentation or curing* Only about AGE statements for marketing.
Thoughts?

Have to agree 100% as it is all about marketing, falling in line with extra bands and super fancy boxes.
They all have their little secrets only known by the inner circle.
Just my opinion also, but from the time the product leaves them, sits in a distributor's warehouse, they are also way over humidified.

General dogma is that NC manufacturers typically age the rolled cigars before releasing to market, unlike Habanos SA, which ships the product as soon as they have enough for a master case, at which point it's shipped.
Being a secretive industry, it's impossible to know whether it's fact, half-fact, or seed in the wind. Best bet is to let your taste buds be your guide.

They could be using that aged leaf in the cigar but what is the percentage? I'm sure it's very small.

This won’t speak to the exact question of “aging statements”, but within the last couple years I remember AVO releasing 3-4 varieties of brand new, limited edition cigars. After a few months it was revealed that each of the new LE smokes were actually only current production cigars with new bands and fancy boxes. And a higher price tag. I don’t recall much backlash over the charade which leads me to think marketing departments might have quite a bit of leeway when it comes to claiming certain things…aging statements included. YMMV.

I missed that one. One more reason not to chase the three-banded uber-rare sticks.

Insane! But Honestly not surprised. I bring up Perdomo for 1, not a fan. 2, I’ve smoked his cigars from the factory floor and from various stages in his warehouse and know by comparing fresh v aged there is virtually no difference.
+his lower end line is nearly the same price as his 10+ year old line which makes no economical sense.
