Tax Stamp Question

Post by F15-Loader »

Well, my son decided to buy the $300 Siglo VI slb.  He got them today and is pissed at me because I, again, questioned the authenticity of the purchase.

In an attempt to show him that they may not be legit, I scanned the tax stamp and it replicated perfectly.  His argument was that I don't know what's supposed to happen if it's legit.

So, does anyone have a post 2010 tax stamp they can scan and post?  He's insistent that the box is good because they verify on the SA site🤷.

Thanks!!

Ok...since this post isn't generating the response I thought it would, has anyone ever scanned a stamp and can tell me what will appear?

TIA

$300 for a 25 count Siglo VI?

There's no reason to scan warranty seals or whatever.  I don't care how perfect everything looks (real materials are easily stolen), the $300 price tag tells the whole story, as you know.

Serial numbers are easily duplicated.

Here's a valid 25 ct Siglo VI serial (style 4): 000047823197

Now run it again and increment the number, like this: 000047823198

Oh, look at that!  The numbers are sequential.  Keep going and you can find lots more serials for a 25 count Siglo VI box.  Maybe that will convince him how useless the serial numbers are for determining authenticity.

HSA did not introduce the serial number system to help us, they did it to track which distributors were selling outside of their region.

Oh, it was a 25 count..lol.

Thing is, the stamp and bands are amazing.  But the construction ,appearance and price scream fake and I can't get him to accept that.  I mean, he got the froma a doctor that knows someone that knows a guy...lol. 🤷

Ahhh well, hopefully he will concede at some point and not continue to purchase from this dude.

Fake... the age old addage works for cigars too.... if its too good to be true, then it definitely is.  30 a stick, right now, for Sig 6s is a great deal.  Your son should have expected to pay $750 for that box.  Smoke one... the Cohiba Siglo profile is unique and easily discernable to me.  If you enjoy them, smoke them and realize you overpaid for good fakes, just don't pass them off, gift them, or resell them.

If you really want to get scientific about it, and feel like sacrificing 1 stick to the cigar gods, cut it in half and do a full inspection...see if its long filler and see if there is any garbage or floor scrapings inside the wrapper.

Smoking one will be the only real way to tell if there are any Cohiba bones there.

Ahhh…a well intentioned prodigy. Such a great thing. I’d love to see these cigars. Can you post a pic of the cigars and box?

I can...but I'm just leaving the house to smoke one w him.  Here's one I pulled from the box.  I tried to get a shot of the holographics on the band, which, as I said looks pretty good.  Construction is not what you'd expect though.

[/quote]Here are some pics of the box and contents.  Habanos corner sticker is embossed as well as the label on the parchment inside.  Also notice the holographics on the tax stamp.  The stamp also has water marks under UV.

I've been out of the game for a while but other than the the price, quality, and taste, this is a pretty good counterfeit, imo.
