OK, OK, not a BZ post technically. But figure this section gets high traffic, so . . .
Anyone have any cigars shops to recommend in Puerto Rico? Don't have to have CCs

With all the hurricanes, I would be surprised that any are still there

The problem with any place in the Caribbean is fakes, even in shops that seem legit. Back in 2003 or so I was in the Bahamas, there was a shop that had Monte Churchills.... this was before there were any ELs or regionals. :gotcha:

ELs started in 2000. But agree wholeheartedly with the post. Only avenue close to safe are the LCDHs, and they are a crap shoot as well.

Wouldn't the sale of cuban cigars be illegal in puerto rico just like in mainland US? I don't know how it wouldn't be.
I bought two authentic ryj belicoso in a liquor store in Fort Wayne Indiana once. They had a box of those and a box of Montecristo something in the bottom of the humidor and they were the personal cigars of the owner. Kind of separate from the other cigars but in the same display case. I reached into the box, grabbed 2 and put them on the counter. They had no price tag like the others and the clerk sold them to me for the same price as the other Dominican ryj.
Went in there a week or so later, completely different clerk, and they asked me if I was the guy who bought the cuban cigars last week and I played dumb. They told me that the owner was not happy about it. Haha
Shouldn't have been showing them off! But I think they actually must have looked at their video footage or something for a new clerk to know me.

Probably too late to help you, but if anyone searches for this later, I suggest The Cigar House at 257 Fortaleza St. in San Juan. Good selection, large comfortable lounge and they have a bar in the back. Prices on some stuff are slightly high, but such are tourist areas.
