2014-2015 best crop of the millenium?

Post by CigarFreak »

I've been smoking a ton of stuff from 2014-2015, i can't seem to keep my hands off them. Although my experience with the 03-08 stuff isn't very extensive, imo the 2014-2015 crops are the best since 2000. What do you guys think?

In my experience, 2013 was the landmark year - best since 07/08, which is when I started with Havanas.  I agree the 14/15 box codes I have are tending to be very good.  Only problem is I don't have that many as I was overloaded with '10-13 boxes at the time!

You have hit on something that I have observed as well.  14-15 has been wonderful.  And late 16-early 17 was a mess.  The other extreme.  Everyone seems to be “finding” late 16-early 17 boxes they didn’t realize they had....

Keep in mind that when you refer to ‘13 box codes, you are really referring to crop from ‘11 & ‘12. Just a minor nit.

Absolutely.  And I'd guess that the leaves made their first appearance in 13 codes, lasted into 14/15 for some blends, and were all gone by the time the 16 codes were being produced.  Most 16s I've had were not exemplary.  Good enough, but not great.

Whilst smoking a 2015 HdM Epi #1 recently it dawned on me that it may have been the best I've had since 2008.  I definitely agree that current production has been of very fine quality.
