When/if it opens up there will be a big boom, for a while, but that regime is so anti-profit, and anti-free enterprise that it won't take long for lots of people to get jailed.
The Castro government there now will go crazy as bats trying to keep their thumb on everything. Before too long it will be Venezuela w/o oil. The new will wear off and it will be a dirt poor Caribbean country with no embargo to blame. No US company in their right mind will invest in infrastructure or capital assets there until there is a different government.

I agree, which is why I said the 1st year, after that it`ll be somewhere between
pre and post Castros.

Will we may see some ease in various restrictions, I don't expect an embargo lift or any other drastic changes until a change in government in Cuba. No way does the current House and Senate change anything major.

Did JFK need approval to impose the embargo???
Or did he do it all by himself???

The embargo has evolved over the yrs. It was in place months before the missile crisis. JFK created it with an Executive order; however, it's been codified by the congress several times, once in the 60s I think and again in the 90s. So the reality is that pres can't change it unilaterally.

True... And theoretically the President would have to do it that way, but Obama hasn't always followed that line of thinking so who knows what to expect.
