Hopefully it's just a trick the US pulled to get prisoners out of Cuba.

The customs rules are now already changed apparently, to allow people to bring in up to $400 of Cuban products per person, including up to $100 of tobacco and alcohol products.

Right but only for authorized to trips from the US to Cuba, not everyone.

US Citizens can't travel yet even though the press has released all of this info in advance. Classification for each type of traveler (Church, University, Press, Family etc) has not been established yet. Kerry's group was in Havana this past week to iron out some of the details. American Airlines and possibly other airlines will eventually sell tickets directly but that might be 3-4 months. Obama is all for it but Fidels camp is unwilling to let go of any control they have had in the past. The majority of the charter airlines that go to Cuba directly from the US are run by former Cuban Security Agents. John

John, the new changes discussed were officially amended into OFAC's Cuban Assets Control Regulations on January 16th.

With the latest developments in the US - Cuban relationship... I doubt we will be seeing travel restrictions being lifted to all US Citizens. The US will not give up GITMO any time soon which will eventually put a pause on all Diplomatic talks. Being a dual US and European citizen, I could visit Cuba from a handful of close foreign locations but as long as I can get my hands on legit Cuban cigars on this forum... I rather stay till I can fly directly from Arizona :).

The first meet with Castro is in the works with our president. This could be promising.

You guys need to remember that the embargo is codified by at least two different Congregational acts.  It is law, and while BHO has repeatedly shown that he is willing to ignore US law I don't think he can unilaterally circumvent this one.

This is another act in the play, but it's not the final act.

This is going to be ongoing for many years. I don't think it can be a unilateral act either. It will have to be widely supported before it will be lifted.
