Somehow I've been feeling this one coming. The only way is a huge as in tectonic shift in the way the Government spends $$, and they can't do that and keep getting elected, and "we the people" will keep electing people who promise us more money.

"A democracy cannot exist as a permanent form of government. It can only exist until the majority discovers it can vote itself largess out of the public treasury. After that, the majority always votes for the candidate promising the most benefits with the result the democracy collapses because of the loose fiscal policy ensuing, always to be followed by a dictatorship, then a monarchy." - Elmer T. Peterson

Argentina defaulted several years ago. They're still not exactly a financial superpower, but then again, they never were before. They're doing okay and the only people who got screwed were the large multinational banks who had loaned them money. And who gives a fuck about them? They're predatory sociopaths who are reacting to the beginning of the end of fiat currency.
All empires fall, folks.
