Wineador

Post by Darktower007 »

Hey guys I've been thinking about getting a wineador and selling my JC Pendergast cabinet humi. What is a good size to get? 100 bottle? 200? I don't want to run out of room but don't want it to take up a whole wall either. Thanks for the input.

My question to you is what is your current stash size and how big do you think you want to go (then figure a bit more space)?
Also I recommend from my personal experience of adding an extra fan or two in the wineador.

I currently have a 120 bottle wineador. I built the drawers for it as well. The drawers are about 2x2 feet and 3 inches deep. Although the wineador has been great and now very full (lol)..I prefer the looks in my home of a cabinet now and about to enlarge my holding area as a result.

Something to consider as well, in my wineador, I had to make sure the cedar slats I used didn't go over a 1/4 inch in thickness. This is due to the preexisting railing setup. My concern over time is the wearing out of the cedar from using the drawers. Yes I probably could have used another wood but even at a 1/4 in thick there is only so much weight you should really put on a drawer of that size.
My two cents....maybe stay with a cabinet if you are looking to go big.

From experience I can tell you that whatever you get eventually is going to be too small. I started with a 25 ct humidor, then a 300, another 300 ct, then a wine cooler, and finally a 3000 count humidor.  currently don't have much room on all the humidors.

It's a never ending obsession.

They call it TAD for a reason! Lol. I hear ya! I purchase a very large cabinet and my buds are taking bets on how long it will take me to fill it.

Maybe invest in a walk in humidor at this rate! Lol

They are sexy but don't really hold that much.. Maybe 50-60 sticks per drawer and/or 7-8 boxes per shelf?  Fairly easy to maintain if you keep your macro climate stable.  You just run out of room so stinking quick...

Most of the conversions I've seen are for the smaller 20-30 bottle size coolers.  There's a few folks out there making really nice shelves for the units.  Like others here I started with a 300 ct, then got a coolidor, and then a wineador with shelves, and then another coolidor.  The winedor is great for singles, but sucks for boxes.  I had to add fans to it to get the humidity even throughout the unit.  Temp control is the advantage of the wineador, and humidity is controlled with beads, which seem to work fine.  I just outgrew the thing, and I finally bit the bullet and got an Aristocrat, and haven't looked back.

If you buy a Newair there is a guy making great shelves for this unit, they are not cheap and he takes a while but it's worth it.
