Nibo lighter help

Post by atomross13 »

Does anyone use a Nibo lighter?? Or more accurately can anyone get there Nibo lighter to work? I have a duel flame version that will not light most of the time. I have tried to use Lava fuel in it but none of the adaptors fit the nozzle of the lighter. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to get this frigging thing to work!

First, don't use lava fuel.  These lighters are designed to work with any fuel, so using lava (which has a lower vapor pressure then cheaper fuels) will make the lighter less reliable.  Get some cheap-ass Ronson butane.  Colbri fuel will work OK also.  You'll be surprised how much better it will work.

Cheap lighters can be finnicky.  Make sure you bleed the lighter completely before filling if it is giving you problems.  Screw the flame adjuster closed (you can't hear and fuel escaping when you try to light) and then open about a 1/4 turn and try to light the lighter 2 or 3 times.  Repeat until the lighter lights.

I have a triple flame Nibo which works great, I use Vector fuel. Try the following things.
1. clean the burners with a Qtip and alcahol.
2. repeat step 1.
3. use compressed can of air to blow out the burners.
4. repeat step 3.
5 purge the lighter and fill with GOOD butane not the cheap stuff.
6. repeat step 5 every time you refill.

Hope this helps.

Have had one for 3 years, use ronson fuel. If it ever gave me trouble just blew it out and it worked like a champ.

The purge is a huge step. The Nibos are a high pressure lighter like Colibri and take a high pressure fuel. What kind or model do you have? Can you post a pic here anywhere? Thanks, terry

I've had a few of these. Maybe you just got a bad one and need to replace it. They seemed to work fine with most fuels, but being they were "cheapies" someone once told me to use the "cheaper" fuels and stay away from the Lava, Vector, etc.

Whenever they started dying out, I tossed 'em.

I'd like to get a few more of these -- anyone know where to get them? Thank you. Good luck with it.
