Avo LE 05

Post by mossimo870 »

Hey Everyone,

So, I have been sitting on a few Avo LE 05's for sometime now and have never smoked one. Today, It was gorgeous outside (in NY), so I figured that I would give this cigar a try.  The Avo LE 05 blew me away! Unbelievable!!!

I wish that I could give a detailed review of my experience, but I really stink at that :)

All I can say is that the cigar was packed full of flavor from start to nub. Definitely had a full espresso and dark chocolate flavor throughout.

I am not the biggest fan of Avo's regular production cigars, but I have heard such great reviews about the LE05, that I had to pick up a few while I had the chance. I sure am glad that I did because this cigar is tops in my book!

I completely agree and I am so glad I have a couple of boxes to sample! Seems to have been a bit of discussion about these of late and it may be time to break one out :).

Just missed a few of these on a recent sale and boy was I bummed.  It's been a while since I enjoyed one.  I really liked this cigar.  Even when fresh, (a few months old to two years old), they smoked like a dream!

Sadly, they aren't they same.  The ones on the AVO 80th humidor aren't the same either.

Nothing beat the ORs although for those saving them, better hurry and start smoking.  To me, they are still very good now but have gone past the pinnacle of their greatness.  They still have a few years left on them for sure though!

So your saying a 5 year old cigar is past it's prime? Please explain how you came to that conclusion.

Simple, by smoking boxes of them.  I am not at all saying it is past its prime for everyone.  Hence, the "to me" language.  For my tastes, and I bought boxes of them when they came out and have been smoking them every year since then, they just started to taper off a little bit for my tastes.  They are still my favorite AVO LE (even the AVO 22) and as stated, will still hold their own for several more years.

My suggestion was for those people who have some and may not have tried one yet, fire one up to see how they taste now!

Sadly I would have to agree.  I was very excited when I was told of the souse linked above and ordered a 5er.  I allowed them to settle after transit and couldn't wait to fire one up.  Not a bad cigar, and very enjoyable in its own right, but definately NOT the same as the OR.  Also, IMHO not worth the price of admission.  Again, not a bad cigar by any means, definately quality tobacco, but by no means a $10 cigar, at least to me.  YMMV

Thanks guys for telling me they aren't the same as the OR. I was going to order a 10 pack in the next day or so.
