How often do you find yourself having to correct a burn? Or do you find yourself being obsessive-compulsive and correct at the slightest crooked burn?
I don't know when the last time was that I smoked a perfectly burned cigar. I do find that I now smoke so slowly that I several times have to relight or help the cherry back to burning. Most of the time, the cigar corrects itself without any help from me. Was wondering what others' experience was on this...

Well, here's a topic that I've actually never come across on any of the board that I frequent, (as opposed to cello off vs. cello on, or how aged is aged enough?), so I'll offer my .02.
I only correct the burn when it looks as though the cigar will continue to burn crooked, without self-correcting, getting worse and worse as I smoke. I would say that maybe 10 percent of the cigars I smoke require a touch up. Maybe another 10 percent burn crooked but self-correct.

I probably have to correct mine a little more due to the cold weather(montana) and wind, I would say 25% of the time. The self correcting maybe 60%.
Have to agree with knuck I don't think I have ever seen this question before!

It seems all the other cigar-related questions here have already been asked. I was just trying to ask something different, I guess. Like I said earlier- I consider myself to be correcting often, but really its just to re-light, more or less. I smoke my cigars muuuuch slower now, since I don't smoke cigarettes anymore, or treat my cigars as though they were a large cigarette.
Anyway, just curious.

I correct a burn MAYBE 10-15% of the time. I only correct a burn when it's 3/4" or more out of line.
I see guys correcting burns when they are 1/4 or 3/8" crooked and I wonder WTF? Enjoy smoking the cigar and worry a little less about what is going on with the cigar. It supposed to be a relaxing event!
There are 10 things that can cause a small difference in burn speed and 9 of them won't require a correction.

I had to correct a burn today. That was the first time in several months. I rarely have a cigar burn perfectly strait but most are just a bit off and adjust by themselves rather quickly.

Smoked a '99 SLR A on the way to work this morning. It needed 3 touch-ups which made me think of this thread. Damned tasty smoke that A was, touch-ups or no.

Less than 10% of the cigars I smoke burn unevenly. Only about half og those require a touch up

Re: How often do you have to correct a burn?
I don't usually think much about it if I have to touch one up once, especially if it is a good stick. On the other hand, if it looks booked and it is going to run sideways the whole way I'll usually just toss it and get another.
Interesting that I noticed this today. last night I had a Churchill that just would not burn straight, and as I kept telling myself to toss it as I was relighting it. In the end I smoked 2/3s and ditched it.
