Re: Pappy stolen
Maybe I do not understand this.
PVW is the worlds most elusive [s]bourbon[/s], spirit, and they can not supply the demand that already exist.
I would also assume that Buffalo Trace (who owns PVW among about 20 or so other brands), makes way more money of their other products than this small batch.
So again, I fail to see why they would do this to hype up a product that the entire world is looking for.
Either way, just yesterday I got a bottle of ORVW 10 for $49 and a bottle of 20 for $189.00. Marked up a bit, but a fair price given the hysteria sourounding the brand. Really wanted the 15 as it is my favorite, maybe i will mix the two bottles together and average them. LOL

They got caught with there pants down. They were exporting far to many barrels to other start ups.
Buffalo Trace, Blantons, Elmer T Lee, Weller 12 are already back ordered and there is NO time table as to when they will be shipped.
Interesting, how did you get this information? Reason I ask is I bought Elmer T Lee & Weller Antique (My 2 everyday bourbons) just last week,, and the shelves were fully stocked with all the Buffalo Trace lineup (less the Pappy and HTF stuff which was picked clean). Here is the website if you need anything: http://www.worldofliquor.com/
I am not doubting you at all, just curious as to where you got this info, I would be interested in learning more about this.
Thanks

Buffalo Trace actually came out about a month or 2 ago and said they came upon a shortage and that Elmer T Lee and Weller 12 will be seasonal at best releases.

Franklin County Sheriff Pat Melton releases the following:
Today, April 21, 2015, the Franklin County Grand Jury indicted nine people for Engaging In Organized Crime in relation the theft and distribution of bottles, cases and barrels of bourbon, including Van Winkle family bourbons, Eagle Rare and Wild Turkey. This criminal syndicate also imported and distributed anabolic steroids. These indictments are the result of an investigation that began in October, 2013.
Beginning in January 2008 and continuing through April of this year, Gilbert “Toby” Curtsinger led an organized criminal syndicate based at his residence in Franklin County, KY that participated in the theft and distribution of stolen bourbon and also imported and distributed anabolic steroids. Curtsinger, an employee of Buffalo Trace Distillery, and Mark “Sean” Searcy, and employee of Wild Turkey Distillery, worked together to steal and distribute bottles, cases and barrels of bourbon taken from both of their employers.
Curtsinger and Searcy worked in concert to steal barrels of bourbon from the Wild Turkey warehouse. Curtsinger then utilized connections he had from playing softball throughout central Kentucky to sell the stolen barrels. Curtsinger was involved in numerous thefts of Pappy Van Winkle, as well as Eagle Rare bourbon, both in bottles and barrels. He distributed these stolen items through his softball network as well.
Curtsinger also imported and distributed anabolic steroids. He took orders for steroids in bulk, collected money and had them shipped to his address. Once they arrived, Curtsinger distributed the steroids to those who had ordered them.
Seven other individuals participated in the organized syndicate by taking an active role participating in theft or distribution of stolen bourbon, trafficking or distributing anabolic steroids, providing assistance or getting a benefit. They are Julie Curtsinger, Ronnie Lee Hubbard, Shawn Ballard, Dustin Adkins, Joshua Preston, Christopher Preston and Robert McKinney.
The investigation is ongoing. Detectives are actively pursuing new leads in this case. More charges are anticipated.
The Franklin County Sheriff’s Office would like to thank the many agencies that participated in this investigation: The Commonwealth's Attorneys Office, The Office of the Attorney General, Cyber Crimes Branch, Anderson County Sheriff’s Office, Laurel County Sheriff’s Office, Scott County Sheriff’s Office, Taylor County Sheriff’s Office, Logan County, West Virginia, Sheriff’s Office, the U.S. Postal Inspectors and the Indiana State Excise Police.

Weller 12 went seasonal here last yr. I can still get 107 Old Antique any time I walk in, and the Weller reserve is always well socked.

IMHO, nothing goes better with 2 fingers of premium bourbon than a shot of anabolic steroids.
Mr. Simpson, don't you worry. I saw an episode of Matlock in a bar last night. The sound was down, but I think I got the gist of it.
