Cigar Reading

Post by HabanoHam »

Greetings All, I was curious if anybody had any good recommendations for ISOM cigar related reading material (Besides MRN)?  Has anyone read Inside Cuban Cigars by Tabakman?

Thanks

I find Charles del Todesco's The Havana Cigar: Cuba's Finest a good read.

Walks you through the process from seed to ash with some great photography.

Thanks for the recommendation brother! With it getting colder here in Michigan I have more time to read since my outdoor smoking has come to a halt.

As the icicles began to form on the roof, I realized winter wind would not be kind to me. The days are shorter, dark grey clouds form in the early afternoons like oversized marshmellows. I stare at the driveway and don't know how I'm going to move all of that snow.....Oh, sorry just had a flashback. If you want to go old school:

Cuban Counterpoint-Tobacco and Sugar, Fernando Ortiz (1940)

Although half of it is dedicated to sugar, this book has a great historical viewpoint of the comings and goings on the island related to tobacco before the 1940's (just before the bad guys rolled in). Ortiz also discusses the use of the leaf for medicinal/religious uses by the Taino indians. Lotta old drawings in it as well. The snowmobile won't start, I'll never get into town. Snowshoes, snowshoes....where did I put the snowshoes. I'll have to pack a flask to keep warm for the walk. As I headed outside the snowman said: "let me get a sip of your HC7 to keep warm....." Lol Mr.O we've been lucky so far without getting much snow. Thanks for the recommendation, this looks like a very interesting read that will certainly keep me busy and educate me on a few things as well. I 'll have my flask and pint glass full for when the snowman finally does make his arrival

I can't comment on whether or not it's any good, but I'm waiting on delivery of a copy of:

Havana Cigars (1817 - 1960) by Enzo Infante, Oscar De Los Reyes, Carlos Cruz
