The unfortunate reality is that the online coffee sales never managed to cover the cost of the coffee, packaging, shipping and CC gateway fees.  I cup the stuff so I know it's better coffee that you can get most anywhere else unless you are getting coffee from a small roaster, and my prices are lower or equal to what I see awful crap selling for in stores, but the sales just aren't there.

Shipping really crushes me.  Everyone wants free shipping, which I can't deliver when it costs $4+ to ship a $9 item.  Even with the $30 threshold for free shipping I was only breaking even.  Even if I keystone (to use a cigar term) and I'm gross $5 on ever $10 sale that's $15 to pay $12 in shipping, then I have to pay the monthly gateway fees, bank fees, packaging, ...  :tears:

The other problem is that people really shouldn't buy more than they will use in a month.  My bags are good and the valves work, but there is no point in buying good coffee if you are going to keep it for months, so people aren't buying large volumes.

I'm looking at doing green coffee sales on line.  I'll reduce the offerings and get in a bag or two of some outstanding stuff and sell it green.  Stuff like the Yemeni I had (it was one of the best coffees I've ever tasted.)

Bottom line is that the cost to ship was just more than the business model could stand.

Kenyans are unbelievable, better than Ethiopia imo.
Jam Blends are better for the buck than Blu Mtn.
Bali, Papua, higher altitudinal strains.
small batch central americans.
It`s all subjective to taste, like cigars.

Blue Mountain and Kona are to coffee what boy bands are to music.  All advertising and very little substance.
