Maybe a bit, and yes depending on where they come has been my experience. I prefer cabs and tubos over dress boxes almost every time. They breathe much better and do tend to take on some mechanical damage however they are in much better condition overall.

Cabs seem to maintain their roundness better than dress boxes.  I had a box of Grand Edmundo show up looking like box presses.  Same with some older BCEs.
