Tatuaje's have replaced OpusX ....

Post by WadeFillingame »

...as the hot trading stick, or at least it looks that way if you look through the threads in the TSBC.

I remember 'back in the day" before Opus were available across the US they were the hot ticket item.  Occasionally PAM's would get some pixels but now it looks as if the hot items are Tats.

Just an observation.

I think Tats are far more readily available then Opus ever were Wade.  Plus there are about 83 kazillion different kinds of Tats now & still only one Opus, (well, 2 including Forbidden I suppose).

Does anyone believe that Tatuaje will ever receive the same cult status that Opus has received?  I for one think not, now don't get me wrong I have enjoyed many Tatuaje cigars and even a few Opus but I believe it boils down to availability.  Tatuaje is more readily available than Opus ever will be.  It's like a unicorn.  Everyone wants one but only a few can get them.  It's all smoke and mirrors to me.

if pete decided to only release his cigars twice a year, there'd be more of a mystique for them, too.
i like opus, but give me a brown label tatuaje any day.
and there are a lot of guys out there that would love to have access to black labels and franks.

I would take the Tats hands down.  I put down the last Opus I smoked with about 3 inches left.  If they weren't hard to get they would not be nearly as popular and are not even close to Tatuajes IMO.  To be fair I did recently smoke an Opus Petit Lancero from '03 that was fantastic, so with some age they are good sticks, fresh..no way.
You can find me at Virgin Cigars in Raleigh, NC.  Stop by and burn one anytime.

The Opus, (Opi?  Opuses?), of the Tat/PJ line.

Before you criticize anyone else, walk a mile in their shoes. This way if you piss them off you'll be a mile away and they'll be barefoot.

Working my way thought a bundle of Tat Blackies.

I told Pete I thought the Tat Blackies when first released that these were a cigar that could compete with opus.  I am not speaking of the robustos.  If you like their flavor (that is nothing like opus IMHO and I still pick up Opus), they are an excellent cigar.
