Thought I recognized that name.  He actually did make good with me eventually.  Like a year or two later I saw a post of his somewhere and tracked him down on principle, seemed apologetic like he just forgot...

Just a quick question Phil, if this situation were to have happened to anyone else in this community and they approached you with it, would you be contemplating adding this guy to the List?  I respect erring on the side of caution. I also understand that this all took place prior to your accepting the responsibilities that you now have regarding the List, but I've seen guys added long after committing the indiscretion that landed them there, so I wonder...

I guess two things on that question... first is I just plain forgot about this guy until I saw the thread because it was so many years ago and there was no actual loss to the guys he screwed around other than some time.  Second is generally we try and not add people after about a year, sort of a statute of limitations.  The rationale is too much gets muddled as time passes and it gets very difficult to tell what really happened.  Also you end up with situations where someone blew something off because they were friends with the offender, then years later they decide they aren't friends any more so that situation where they said "don't worry about it" now they are worried about.  Obviously exceptions can/will be made when something big is at stake like the Dunhill fiasco or a vendor selling fakes.  In this instance I think it has been too long to determine intent but I would definitely exercise caution dealing with the guy.

I'm sure him going on the list is a forgone conclusion, and Phil just hasn't had time to do it (and properly gather up the evidence to attach to the entry).
