I've used both; beads work best for me.

I tried KL in media bags.
It worked to control humidity.
However, what disturbed me was handling the bags while adding water.
It left a gritty feeling on my hand.
If the crystals are breaking down into friable silica dust that easily, I refuse to take
the chance of the dust spreading to my cigars.
Smoking in itself is risky, why add another known carcinogen?

HCM's in route for the wineadore. Pricey but worth the investment.
Excellent service and communication. Immediate shipment. Can't ask for more.
I'm sure there will be no issue.

I use KL with boveda packs. The boveda is just a little extra security. Had the same packs in over a year

HCM beads FTW! Took a bit for everything to stabalize, especially since I put in a cedar drawer and shelf 1 week after the beads. But yea....rock solid 65%. Could NOT be happier.

Also great email communication from the owner. Answered my question right away.

HF beads work great but they stop working after a while. I've switched to KL because its much cheaper but I might switch back, I dont think it holds as steady as beads.

HF beads for me.
I have been using them for 3 years.
How long are they effective?

I don't know if there is anything official but at least 5 years. I personally had them fail in 2 cabinets and I used as directed.
