I would hope that accurate trader comments be posted in these situtations. It doesn't have to be negative or bashing but an accurate synopsis should be provided so that others can determine for themselves if they want to participate in a trade with this person.
More information, assumed accurate, will always be helpful. I could see information such as this helping form some terms and conditions of a trade, say maybe partial payment to committ a buyer and give incentive so that they don't back out.
I know usually for a smaller trade this isn't an issue but as trades start to climb into the 4 figure range its something to consider.
Also I'd wouldn't mind seeing more detail in comments other than "great trade", A+, True professional. I know I'm guilty of this pratice. I'd like to see some detail such as, shipped on "first day possible", "DC included without charge" or "confirm packing technique before shipping" or "trade went sideways but all workout out in the end", etc.
Just my 2 cents.

The funny thing about this is that the trade usually stinks from the start.

I always thought saying "checks going out tomorrow" meant something, but some people use that day-to-day and then after a week renege. It drives me crazy, but it does always stink from the start.

Mike and I have both tried to deal with another member here who cannot make up his mind or complete any deals, and he is always hunting htf stuff.

Hmm, this sounds familiar, I think I've been contacted by this same person.
Some things I've noticed is that when you get a PM looking to negotiate and never make a hard offer are the ones who are most flaky. If a person is trying to negotiate and reference some obscure auction or old fire sale when you have your stuff listed at MSRP, they're usually not looking for a reasonable offer, they are just looking to lowball and waste time. I have no problem going back and forth, if needed, and seeing if minds can meet, but say what you mean and live up to what you say. I also see the same people message me all the time and never buy.

How about people you don't know seeing you buy a HTF box and pm'ing asking to buy a few, I do not like that.

I'm with you here Dave. Key phrase being "people you don't know" as I'm not bothered if its someone I know. Usually, I don't even bother to answer these type messages.

The common denominator of the best and smoothest deals I have had is good communication. Good communication does NOT just mean responding immediately; it means being honest about your situation or with yourself.
Addressing the first situation by OP, life happens and it would be a helluva lot easier if people swallowed their pride and said "I changed my mind, the brakes went on the car, to a plain and simple 'I over-extended myself." If someone wants to stagger a multi-box sale, I am much more amenable to that if the person does what they say when they say it. I hate chasing people. It's not about the money (at least not all of it), I resent being put in a position to ask for something that has been promised to me!
Example: Todd, who is a much bigger presence on here than I am was Johhny on The Spot as far as communication is concerned and did what he said, when he said he would. I, in turn, sent out a MO since I didn't have ** at the time. The MO showed up quickly so he knew I did what I said. But I really fricking hate when people lie to your face and say they did something and the excuses pile up, and the date on the MO or postmark is a week after they said they sent the stuff.
Be honest, be respectful of people's time, and do what you say you are gonna do. I don't know how and why people don't do that in EVERY aspect of their lives? Cigar smokers are so cool and laid-back in general (my experience), if you go to someone UP FRONT and lay it all out, I bet you almost anyone will work with you, assuming that person isn't selling due to an emergency and needs that money pronto; but that is even part of the equation. Sellers need to be honest, too.
I sold someone some pre-2004 HDM LH "DD." The guy got pissed because he thought I said they were one stick and there were no bands to prove it. I assumed he knew those sticks were sold without bands during that year. I told him that and that he should ask someone, but me not telling him that was a red flag. I bit the bullet and took them back and sold them to a friend who still talks about them. My point is that, in the end, if we don't know specifics and have to start speculating, we can really drive ourselves nuts. Good communication that is honest, timely, and respectful negates all that shit.
While our personalities are all different, the values that drive what we do here are, for the most part, the same. Ok, they should be anyway.

Correct Ernie friends are welcome, I may not still want to sell but they are welcome to ask, It just recently happened and the same stranger screwed over one of the few friends I have here so no way would I part with HTF's to him.

A good trade is usually 10 words or less:
"Where do I send the check".... is a good start
A flippy-floppy-can't-wait-to-back-out-of-this-deal has a lot of useless chatter:
"Hold the cigars for me for two weeks", "Did you receive the check?" (April 1), "What do you mean you didn't get the check?" (April 15), My wife sent it to the wrong addy, Need a new transmission, need new tires, "I'm gonna send another check" (April 23), my dog ate the money order, the check has been in my glovebox, briefcase, desk at work for a month, I don't wanna test drive, I just wanna kick your balls around a little, Did you send the cigars yet? (April 29). What do you mean you don't have them anymore? Tuesday for sure I'm sending you another check.....WTF
