I think they are completely different, like apples and oranges, imo.  The flavor profile is totally different.  I like both.  As far as the rarity, I could see that with the limited Tats.  Never laid eyes on a Frank, Boris, or Drac.  Plenty of Opi around here.

I think it comes down to availablity also.  I only have 2 or 3 OpusX right now, so i save them.  I would much rather smoke a Tat any day and that is much my goto cigar. 

Most tats are great and some have reached that hard to find, high in demand status of the Opus, but not all have. 

That being said, I covet my opus as much, if not more, than my HTF tats...

I don't think that Tatuaje has replaced opus BUT they have stolen alot of the thunder. Years past around Christmas was Opus time. This year my budget is blown with the Dracs, Boris and Blacks. My B&M even asked me if I wanted some of the rare Opus sizes that they had just gotten in and I passed. Are the tats better - no - just different. One advantage for the tats, they can be quite a bit cheaper.

I still love Opus, one of my favorites.

im thinking Carlito must have been hearing the footsteps coming at him from Pete Johnson.  he sees the opus maybe not gettin as much play because of the hub-bub over dracs and franks and special tats, so he digs into the opus vault and starts releasing some of the new sizes of stuff.  i have seen this year, opus sharks, opus pusycats, magnum o's and the love affair being released.  four new sizes all at one time?  that has to mean something is going on.
thats my opinion at least, not that it means much.....
