I think people are coming down on Cam way too harshly. He punked out a bit during the interview but after losing the biggest game of your life I understand not wanting to discuss questions that point the blame at him.
How about, oh I dont know, some fucking blocking? How about that 30 yard reception that was called incomplete and held up on review even though its clearly the wrong call? How about a no call late in the game on an obvious pass interference call on Bradley Roby? Greg Olsen 4 catches on 9 targets? What the fuck was Jonathan Stewart doing all night long? Carolina also let up the biggest punt return in Super Bowl history that set up some easy points. Cam's game wasn't great and he made a couple of poor decisions (including the post game interview) but I think this really showed that his supporting cast is right next to non-existent and the guy needs more than re-treads, has-beens, and never-will-be's to win it all.

You don't get to gloat, strut, and call yourself superman when you win and then get a pass on being a chump when you lose. If he had a little humility in winning then he'd get some slack, but that's not his MO. So he comes off like a pouty punkass and gets called on it.
To further make the point, I don't give a rats ass about pretty much any pro sport. If you had asked me 6 weeks ago who Cam Newton was I would not have been able to tell you, (I'd have been able to identify that he is a football player but that's it); however, in the last 24 hours his coverage has been inescapable. He's definitely gotten himself into the spotlight. The only good part of this is that it cuts down on the number of times you get blindsided with Kardashian crap for a week or two, thank god he's not fucking one of them.

I am a college football guy and don't follow any particular team as far as NFL goes. Cam really seemed to be getting it together mentally, aside from his gloating, this season.
I was really hoping so, anyway. He got kicked out of UF for stealing a laptop then there was the pay for play scandal at Auburn... Maybe next year he will grow up... maybe.

I don't have a problem with getting called out on acting like a baby bitch about the loss, but its just too much as this will be the largest sports story for the week. My biggest issue is that the media is over-hyping this. Almost all sports media personalities have lauded his in game brashness and over the top celebratory gestures and have called that a demonstrative showing of his love of the game and then these same people turn around and jump on his case for this. IMO, these things are two different sides of the same coin. Having said all that, there is an easy solution to stop him from a pompous ass when he celebrates, and that solution is to keep him out of the end zone.
What I feel is ridiculous is most ridiculous is the finger pointing about him not doing enough to win. As a qb and face of the franchise, you're gonna eat the most shit regarding losses but I feel this is over the top considering how the game went and how no other offensive player stepped up to shoulder some of the load.

Your right the biggest story should be how he jumped out of the way of that fourth quarter fumble he had......to quote Denver CB Aqib Talib “He tapped out,”. They were only down 6 points at that time.
How do you think Seattle's Russel Wilson felt after the interception last year.....he didn't walk out of any post game interviews......
Not over hyped when you bring all that attention to yourself all year........you want the attention when get in the ens zone, take the attention when you dont.
And he should be pointing the finger at himself because he DIDNT do enough to help team win last night. Certainly not his fault alone, but the media and fans have every right to point a finger at him.....and he should come out an admit he didn't do enough......the greats always do.

Apples and oranges IMO. Peyton had a lapse in what had been otherwise excellent judgement to that point. By and large, he is seen by players, coaches, and sports media as a model teammate and sportsman.
Much to the contrary, Newton has developed a brand based on flash, bravado, and to my eye, a nauseating lack of class and restraint (and yoga pants.) "Live by the sword, die by the sword" seems to apply.

I know after the game he seeked out Peyton and some other guys for congratulations...Personally I cant imagine whats its like to have a mic stuffed in your face 15 minutes after something terrible happens to you...Certainly though other players have handled it much better...I don't really have a dog in this fight, but it certainly seems like the hate for Cam Newton is about more than just his cockiness...Seems like Aaron Rodgers has his own TD celebration and also seems just as cocky, yet I don't see near the vitriol...I guess he deserves it but there is something more to this crazy hate for him...

I think that the post game interviews should focus only on the winners. This is the Super Bowl, the biggest and most watched game in America. Focus on the winners, it's their night. Losers should have a press conference when they get home. Say all you want about being a leader, manning up, etc...until you've lost the Super Bowl and then had a mic stuck in your face you have no clue what you're talking about.
And no, I'm not sticking up for Cam...Panthers are my 2nd team and only because I live 2 hours from Charlotte. Just something I've believed for a while.

I'm with you on this. I hate seeing the losing team just crying on the sidelines after a game. No one wants to hear from the losers either.
