Forget about the discounted prices for the vintage smokes...one place was GIVEN THEM AWAY FREE with purchases over a certain dollar amount.

Giving away smokes that would otherwaise languish in some Swiss warehouse doesn't seem bad to me. Gouging others on the boards while feigning some BS BOTL persona does though.

I pm'd and asked where the boxes were purchased. The vendor that was giving them away was the reply.

I find it odd that no one else finds this offensive. I haven't seen it mentioned on any of the other boards and this thread has very few replies. I guess people don't care.

There used to be an acronym for people accused of this type of behavior, and the Master pointed it out years ago on CF: SSFF (sell and smoke for free). He outed people for buying cheap overseas and then reselling at higher prices to support their own cigar habit.

Lots of these sales going on and not many even raise an eyebrow.

It bothers the crap out of me that people are selling these free/discounted boxes they got for straight profit.

it bothers me too, & i think it bothers a lot of people that just don't say anything. after all, we always have the option of not buying. i do think the seller deserves a little something for their time & risk involved as far as "The Letter" goes, but charging full price for a free box is shady as hell.

it's hard to decide what to do about it, but i think this thread is probably the best way to go about it. i wouldn't give out sources to just anyone who asks, & i don't think many here would (& for good reason). what i've seen elsewhere are posts looking for a 2nd person to split a multibox deal, that way both people get a good deal.
