Rolling my own

Post by Kneeds »

Well I decided to take the plunge and try to roll my own smokes.  I have a mold coming from Ebay soon hopefully and found a place to order whole unprocessed leafs from. Thinking a Nic Criollo for the wrapper, Nic Secko, Nic viso and Dom Seco for the Filler and probably the Seco or Viso for the binder.

Anyone else try this? I found a thread on howtogrowtobacco.com on the subject and it looks like people are having great success.

It's all about the filler, clean leaves, no stems.  :)

I got into this a little bit but it started for me as rerolling plugged sticks that i didnt wanna throw away. Then i started mixing blends....like unroll two cigars and half/half them. One that was really different was an opus/anejo i rolled!

I also started growing some of my own tobacco a few years ago and no kidding, it tastes pretty good. This year ive got connecticut broadleaf, cuban criollo, and h2000 seeds down. Last year i had a cooler full of leaves whe  it was all said and done. Ive got molds too, but i like,to make em without using the molds.

Its a lot of work if you decide to ever go this route....and you had better know a thing or two about good dirt. I buy my cigars...but every once in awhile i will roll one up. Mostly for friends who want to see it done...and tbh theyre pretty decent. Im quite proud of how it turned out. Had one plant last year that was 10 1/2 foot tall!

very cool man. Good luck. I always wanted to try this but I need to do a shitton more research before I jump into that investment.

Still smoking on my 2010 crop and have a small planting going this year as well.

www.fairtradetobacco.com is a great forum for anyone wishing to learn how to grow and process their own tobacco, and it's sister site wholeleaftobacco.com has some excellent tobacco available by the pound.
