Anejo mold
I have been very lucky to have traded for some Anejo's(2 46's & 5 sharks and 2 48's) by a great BOTL.
I've been reading around about mold under the ceder sleeve mostly in the past. Well after a few days my paranoia sets in and I strip the sleeved ones naked, and son-of-a-bitch if one of the 46's and both 48'shave mold! :-X(mold NOT plume)
I have been told that if the mold hasn't spread to the filler just wipe them off and keep them separate(if you're tryin to age them) or smoke them.
I decided to smoke them and they were fine (lucky me) actually very good!
Now I'm looking at the 2 opus and 1 king B in a ceder wondering what is up there sleeves! ???
It has taken me years to build up the small collection of Opus and Anejo's due to my location(Montana) and budget. Now with this happening i am wondering if the search is really worth it, because once you find them are they going to be moldy?
Now thinking about could their be MOLD under the ribbon of the sharks? :o or the xXx?
Any opions ceder sleeves or not? I'm sure that my paranoia will have me stripping the rest very shortly which I was hoping not to do!

Re: Anejo mold
It's all about the RH you keep your Anejo's at. Try 67% or a little lower 65%. I have NO mold issues with any Anejos, and a have a few ;). Avallo is set at 66% all the time. If you do not have a AccuMonitor just use the 65% Bovedas. Cheers

Not so. There was a definate problem with mold on the '06 shipment of Anejos. Fuente released some story about the cigars being loaded onto the incorrect boat and thus spending several extra weeks at sea in a high humidity environment. Not sure how much truth is in that sory, but I did hear it from sveral different and unrelated sourses.
"Now I'm looking at the 2 opus and 1 king B in a ceder wondering what is up there sleeves!"
I have not encountered, nor heard of mold problems with either King B's, (Burn problems? Yes! Cedar clued to the wrapper of the cigar? Yes!), or Opus.

THANK YOU  I knew that it could not be the humidity in my huimy after only a week.
As for the king b's they (well 3) have always burned fine.
So I think that everybody in my huimy will sleep in peace till summer! :cal:

Re: Anejo mold
i just ditch the cedar before i put them in the humi, seems like it gives the thick wrapper more chance to dry out
there's nothing so bad in life that can't be made worse by a lousy cigar

Re: Anejo mold
I don't doubt what others say, but it is still funny. I have 7-8 boxes of Anejos from various years and have not had any mold issues at all. I have none from 2006 though. Just picked up a box from 2007 and this one does have the humi pack in it. I am keeping it sealed. I haven't found a reason yet not to trust it.

Re: Anejo mold
a bunch of my '07 sharks got moldy too. so its not just the '06's i'd think. out of about 2000 sticks, these are the only ones I've had to ever get moldy, so I don't think its me.
