Heads Up.......

Post by scooter »

So Fellas, how many of you have ordered cigars that came in a "collectable humidor" that just will collect dust? I had one recently that I for some reason thought I could sell it on eBay. Long story short, sold it to a guy in Florida who goes by BGGear. Shipped it to him, after it was packaged and insured. He receives the humidor, tells me its damaged and it was poorly packaged and wants a refund. I told him I'd get the details on how to file the insurance claim, he was OK with that. Fast forward to filing the claim, all he needs to do is walk it to the USPS, that's it...guess what,? he refuses, and files a claim with eBay...after eBay resolution center tells me I did everything by the book, they sided with him as he's got buyers protection and they even provided him a return label. well now , USPS is telling me the insurance claim is not valid as they have no way to prove damage was done while I shipped it, or when he returned it...
My point here, those "collectable humidors" we all get are worth some good cigar money, but if you sell them to BGgear on eBay, watch out....he manipulates the buyers protection to his advantage and eBay pretty much screws the seller... as for the buyer, BGgear, not sure why you couldn't just take it in for the insurance claim, after all, your not the USPS and don't have a degree in "packaging".....
So for that.... :finger:

Holy shitballs... thats not just a coincidence with a name like that.

I have never been much of a collectible humidor collector, but thanks for the heads up... maybe you can prevent someone else from falling into this guys trap.

In my dealings with Ebay, it seems like they side with the seller a good majority of the time.  I have never sold cigars or collectibles there, but I have lost close to a $1k on a couple purchases, and that buyer protection thing is total BS... if they cannot recover your money from the buyers Paypal account, you, the buyer lose out, which is exactly what happened in my cases.  There is still an aspiring actor in the LA area, who sold me a nice electric guitar, which I never got... and he managed to keep about half of the payment and never sent me anything at all.  So, the Paypal/Ebay system is flawed no matter how you look at it.

Here's his Facebook page:

He is a broker buyer of collectible goods... and you can even see an Opus X painting on the wall.  I wonder if he screwed Carlos and Carlito or CF out of that one....

And, here is his company's linked in account:

Maybe you should report him to the BBB... one bad Better Business Bureau filing and that will hurt his little cellictible sales side business.  You will have to supply some supporting evidence, but I have had good dealings with the BBB... and I only get them involved as a last resort.
