At which point we will be no closer to determining the authenticity of the cigars, but at least we will know for certain that they taste like ASS! :boty:

Well, aficionados for that crew is stretching it but they know crap when they taste it. I never had a chance to pass one to EDB.
I would ask that Phil, 1. please choke on this cigar in good health ;D 2.Review it, 3. Ask for a review to be posted by whomever he passes one to.
Best holiday wishes to all.

As per Aaron's instructions, I'm sending the remaining two of these Montecristo Sublimes to Insight so he can smoke one and see what he thinks. The others, as I understand it, were given out to other local cigar aficionados by Aaron.
I'm sure Phil will post his opinion as soon as he is able to smoke one. He's also welcome to give one of the cigars to someone local like Hotboy for evaluation.

Just as fyi, I have received the smokes. I am probably going to be too swamped to smoke a cigar this size for a couple weeks but will let everyone know my take when I do for sure.

Box looks like one of the nicer specimen of sublimes I've seen. Oily blotches, veinless, kept well. Prize box aes8. Should have sold it to me. Mike, your friend's sublime looks awful.
Regarding your comment about the EL not being flush in the box, every one of my boxes of Monte Robusto 2000/1, C's, Sublimes, GEs have a bit of room. I would think it's so you can pick it out. I originally thought one was shorter than the other - they all look uniform in height.
I can't comment about band color personally right now, but I will once I'm home.
I would assume that you (mikemets) must have smoked this immediately, without letting the cigar come back to temperature (it's winter), and rh (dip or spike depending on elevation/route taken) - which in my opinion takes weeks to a month. This would explain for your smoke generally being acrid.
Looks like aes8 got the short end dealing with a new smoker. Sorry mike, that box looks legit, you cited the wrong parameters, your only claim was the taste - which as indicated above gives you less claim - and coh is a good tier 2.

Looks like someone slept at a Holliday Inn last night. Too bad you did not answer this on the first page. You could have saved the world from 14 pages of useless bandwidth. You must be Retodds lost brother. :horse:

FYI I smoked the first of two and would say two things 1) the cigar is off (like sick not bogus) and 2) it is not patently fake. It tastes like other 'off' montes I have had. I will revisit once I try the second one.

This is one hell of a thread, and I've learned a lot from it! I've been smoking cigars for 20+ years, and I'm sure that all longtime smokers have gotten a fake at one time or another (unfortunately).
It is is great to see the honor among BOTLs and an ultimate resolution, whether they be fake or not. Cheers to both of you!

Hey! How come "Habana" is written on here with a Sharpie ?!?
