Nicaragua cuban sources?

Post by joshbhs04 »

I am traveling to nica this summer and am wondering if there are any legit cc sources in the country. I trust myself in spotting counterfits but you never know. And trust me I will be sampling the local nica sticks as well!

There is no LCDH in Nicaragua, and the duty free shops don't carry Cubans. The Cubans in the regular stores are all counterfeited. Nicaragua is very very poor country, so there is no market for premium cigars - Cuban or not.

Majority of cigar factories in Nicaragua are located in a free-trade zone. Free trade zones are governed by certain international laws. Cigars can be manufactured and exported from there without paying customs. They are subject to custom and taxes, if they were to be sold within the country, or certain political region (in case of European Union).

I go to Managua (Capitol city) to do mission work every year and the only place I have ever found real smokes is at the airport and there are only Padrons  and Hoya de Nicaragua and they are full American prices.  Fakes everywhere of the CC variety. Bring your own smokes if you go. Also, buy as much Flor De Cano rum you can. It's one of the best rums in the world and very cheap there. On a side note I have never been able to fly back to America with any sort of lighters. I can fly down there with bics and torch lighters but every bit gets confiscated leaving Nicaragua. it's crazy and annoying.
