I'm a fan of the "Just move along" school of online cigar shopping. I remind myself that my $100 is not the next guy's $100.
True story: About 3 years ago on the Flea, a factory-sealed Mobile Fidelity Sound Lab CD (an audiophile Gold compact disc which has been out of print for several years) of Jethro Tull's "Aqualung" sold for $600. The seller, who was a member of an audiophile forum that I frequent, later learned that Paul McCartney bought the item. The buyer's shipping address for the item was odd, according to seller. He looked into it and learned that the funds were released from a company that is contracted to McCartney's agent. A subsequent phone call to the buyer revealed all of this, or so the story goes.
My point? McCartney could afford it and he wanted the item. Same with the Frank sale, imo.

I hear that but I think most of the celebs smoke CC's and have no idea what a Tatuaje Frank is.

Guess these were never topped nor sold?

No, I never topped the post nor sold them. I received some interest, but wasn't able to come to an agreement on them. The free market spoke and has made it clear that my asking price was too high. A lesson learned for me.

I smoked one a few years ago before there was any hype that I was aware of. In fact, I didn't even now it was a Frank because it was gifted to me. I recall it was a decent, well constructed cigar. $10 top as a smoke, $0 to me as a collectors item. I have aged Padron Magnums which I think are better and cost me less.
I don't get the whole Tatuaje super limited/willy wonkas golden ticket/coffen/halloween bullshit anyway. How about producing a good, consistent go to affordable cigar.

He does produce many good, consistent, and affordable cigars though...
He admitted there were some issues with the way he did the monster series the first couple years, but now that he's releasing the "collectible" boxes for those who want a painted piece of wood and then plenty of plain boxes for those who actually want the cigars...I think he's done the best he can to please those who want his product.
And that's the thing I never get, if you don't like his product, nobody is forcing you to smoke it, there are a plethora of other options out there.
I think the one thing we can all agree on though, is the secondary markup bullshit is terrible and even Pete himself thinks it's a load of shit.
