Oh yes, it has nothing to do with Cuban or non-Cuban cigars at all.

Depends if the OR is different from future production (band, shape, etc).

I always ask to see a box too.  If they got them from someone else, then I am pretty hesitant.

I learned a lot from this one, for one I have a love for tubos and often separate them from the cardboard boxes for space reasons. I am now writing the box codes on the individual three packs which I didn't do before.

The color of cello and bands are VERY subjective in my limited experience.  A lot of it has to do with storage conditions.  For example, my storage system is nothing more than large plastic bins with rH beads.  For whatever reason, cello tends to yellow fairly quickly in there, even certain bands seem to do so (Liga Privada among them).  I'm not talking banana yellow here, just a slight discoloration after only a year or so, but very noticeable after 2 years.  

I have a friend with an Aristocrat and some fancy climate control system, and he had cigars that were 5, 6, and 9 years old and the cello looked practically clear in many cases.  it was very interesting to me.  I have a friend with a walk-in and he said his cello doesn't yellow as fast as mine either.  I just got a box of Fuentes from a raffle, and based on how the cello looked (comparing to my own stock) I thought they were probably 3/4-years-old ... turns out they are 8-years-old!

I guess I'm just saying that such things are subjective and dependent on storage conditions, and perhaps other things as well.  Plus, as others have said someone could always re-use old yellow cello and even re-band.  Basically, I think you're taking a big risk unless you know the guy well.  The ones I bought were basically sold for MSRP + tax, so it really wasn't a risk anyway, which is why I did it.  But I got lucky, since these are definitely of the well-aged variety (aged Opus and Anejo are very special cigars, imvho).

Too much light maybe?
