Alright, I know that I did miss something here. Please correct me if I am wrong. "futures" does that mean that someone bought cigars before seeing or smoking was done by anyone? Come on noone is that stupid are they?
LMAO!  Yep, marketing genious on the part of the uber-hype machine!  I hear next year they're coming out with a grape kool-aide that's 1.5 shades lighter then the regular grape kool-aide.  It's gonna cost 3X more, but if you get on line now, pay and wait, you can get them for only 2X more!!  This is gonna be great!!!  :cal:

I'm a huge fan of Dan @ NHC.  The quality is top notch.  Shipping top notch.  But several other large online retailers are less expensive.  A couple years ago, Dan was one of the only online retailers offering the likes of Tatuaje, KA and Illusione.  House blend is awesome.

But, the price keeps me from buying more there.  Some really good specials from time to time however.

What's even worse it's now he's too lazy to come up with original bands for each cigar. The 08-09 La verites he just changed the silver to gold. The last 6-8 LE's just use that stupid colored band with a plain white background "M-80" "Tattoo" "Barclay rex" etc......

I'm still stunned stupid people fall for that and pay the price. Especially the inflated secondary market price.

I agree 100%.  Dan is a great guy.

The only issue is that he never discounts, you pay retail or get them somewhere else.  Once in a blue moon he'll send out a weekend percent off email, but that only makes his "special price", the norm on every other retailer's site.  Plus I pay sales tax and shipping when his office is 8 miles from my work....

So the attractiveness of the band is why we should buy certain cigars?

M80 is a fabulous smoke, probably his best one off in years, IMO.
Wrap the thing in a plain paper band with a hand written name on it for all I care.  I don't smoke the band.

No...but doesn't it prove a point in how lazy and cheap they are over there and how much they are pushing stupid amounts of limited crap?

My point is simple, give people something for what they are paying for even if they don't care. If I had my name on a brand....I'd want to take pride in it. He clearly doesn't. Recycled boxes....same bands...white backgrounds with a plain letter "M-80". Shameful, especially for what he's charging..$10-$25 a stick? (Talking limiteds here)

Your average Cohiba Lancero > Anything Tatuaje has ever and will ever release. No gambles, no limited runs. They are always good and always ~$12-$13 bucks a stick. Probably less than a Tatuaje Monster edition which are highly hit or miss. 50-50 if you ask me.

M-80 $6.67
Barclay Rex $10.00
Pork Tenderloin $8.00
Black PL's $7.92

No way in hell to bitch about that kind of pricing. The fact that the secondary market is willing to pay the prices it is...says only more for what Pete's putting out there for what could be considered pretty cheep money.

True story, and happened a couple of hours ago.

Sister calls me from Casa Fuente in Vegas, would I like her to buy cigars for me. She knows I have the nutsos for CF's stogies. But I just bought some on here and cannot afford more. So I ask her to pick me up some AF Hemmingways, maybe some Maduros.

Salesgirl says they have some nice Signature maduros, I see they go for about $180-200 at Famous, so I tell her go for it.

She e-mails me back... Am I sure? They are $500 a box.

Pass.

*note, I see they are $349 at cigarsdirect.com, $232 @ Gilmour and Johnson (never heard of them), Cheaphumidors.com, $199

CB
Great coffee, cigars and whiskey. Love them all.
