I love the Double Chat SG.  It was my go -to for quite a while.  Sorry to hear that his Maddy brother doesn't hold up.

'05 Trinidad Fundadore

Smoked this on the way home from work this afternoon.  What a truly pleasant smoke.  So full of smooth flavors.  Very complex.  Carmel, vanilla, nutmeg, & cream.  Very balanced with no one flavor dominating or overpowering the others.  Sheer bliss.  An hour and twenty minutes of cigar smoker's heaven.  Perfect construction, no burn issues, and ash that held on for an inch at a time.

Funny thing is, I smoked its big brother, the Cohiba Lancero earlier in the day.  It was an '01 and it just didn't measure up to this Trinidad.  Construction was a bit tight, and it still needed some more time in the humi to truly come into its own.  Oh well, good thing I have lots more Fundadores to smoke while waiting!

King B

I was a bit worried about this one, with all of the burn issues I have heard about.

Construction was good, cut was easy, and pre-light draw was just right. Bits of cedar taste during pre-light draw.

I toasted the foot very carefully to try and prevent any burn troubles. started to tunnel on me at the 1/3" mark but soon corrected itself. flavors were cedar, toasted tobacco, and a earthy taste. got a couple of small cracks in the wrapper in the middle 1/3 of the cigar, but they did not effect the burn. started to get a bit harsh with about 2" left, tried smoking it further but it got to bad so tossed it.

overall score on this one is a 6.85 due to good flavors through most of it, with just bit of burn and crack problem, and bad taste at last 2". will definitely give these another go, but wait more than 2 weeks from purchase to burn.

Same old story with the King B.  Guess that's the buzz on them.  (Sorry, I just couldn't resist).

royal jamaica oro fojo parklane

this was a corona sized figurato, with a nice dark brown wrapper. it looked well made. very firm feel with no soft spots. draw was almost impossible, i got a head ache trying to smoke this. what little flavor i could get was good, a nice light floral taste.

i have to give this one a 1.5, nice looks gave it 2, rest was a -0.5. what a shame, i like the royal jamaicas as a nice change of pace light bodied smoke.

Johnny-O Corona Extra Pigtail.

This was a very fresh (just out of the shipping box) cigar with a medium shaded wrapper. the size on this was 4.75 with a 47 ring. The cigar was very oily looking with a nice sheen. No soft spots or lumps could be felt. nice smell.

Cut was a bit rough, because it was a bit damp. pre-light draw was good, not great but good with a taste of earthy tobacco. first few puffs were all a spicy black pepper. after about the first 1/4 inch the pepper was still prominant but the earthy tobacco taste was again appearant. At about 1.5 inches in the wrapper started to unravel and the burn was hard to control. I was never able to get the wrapper to stay in place once I hit the last 1/3 of the cigar. At that point it was starting to get a bit harsh as well. Tossed this one with about an inch left.

overall this has the potential to be a very good cigar, the rest of these are going in for a nice nap. I would rate this one a 4 due to the harsh ending and the wrapper trouble, but a good first couple of inches.

Johnny-O Torpedo Fresh out of the box.

This was my second cigar of the day yesterday, and I was not planning on smoking to it till later, but was in a very bad meeting and decided to treat myself on the ride home.

Astetics were a nice 6 inch by 52 gauge Torp with a medium brown wrapper with a few dark brown spots. No soft spots or lumps. oily wrapper with a few small veins.

Cut was a bit difficult, this cigar was moist. pre-light draw was good with a strong earthy taste. First few puffs I could ditect taste of white pepper, mild black pepper, and lots of an earthy soil and tobacco. The earthy taste dominated the first half, then the peper flavor took off in the second half. Harshness took over with about 3/4 an inch left in the cigar so I tossed it.

I will give this one a 6.78 becasue of the nice construction and good flavors just not very complex. I think these will get better with a little age.
