Blind Sampler? Please...

Post by heavyd »

Why do people try to sell Blind Samplers? Can someone please explain the logic on the sellers part? Or on the buyer's part, for that matter. I don't understand it. If you are selling a blind sampler that is a good deal, why not just list the cigars and offer a good price. Seriously, can someone help me out. I want to learn. Tks

I think on some boards, it's done to comply with board rules in the case cc's are included.  Here, it shouldn't be of any concern.

I have done a ton of blind samplers on here, ICC, Puff, CA and not a single person has complained.  So I doubt one person who has bought from me would call themselves a fool.  I do blind samplers because people like variety and I don't want to count the number of different cigars I have, then type that out for people, and make updated lists for people to see.  Instead, based on my good trading history people put trust in me that I will give them a great variety and in the end they will get to smoke favorites and perhaps try cigars they have never had before or seen.

I don't mind a good blind sampler now and again.  It all depends on who is selling it ... I wouldn't want to buy one from a new fella.  Looking at Clamp's trader comments, I would be comfortable buying one from him.

I've only ever bought one blind sampler and that was a few years back, (on OLH actually.  And I will never do it again.  The experience sucked ass.  I got 10-15 sticks with no list of box codes.  Hell, some of the sticks were unbanded.  I PM'ed the seller who offered some half-assed excuse and some list that I didn't believe was reliable.  I smoked through the cigars and some were terrible while some were great.  Of course there was no way to track down more of the greats 'cause... well, you get the idea.  Blind grab-bags?  Never again.

IMO, A total waste of time. I have enough cigars; I will never smoke. No need to add to that list.

For newbs they are good as they prob don't know what they like to begin with, so they get a chance to try a bunch of different stuff. This only holds true if the one selling a sampler is actually providing quality cigars for the money and not just doing a dump of plugs and duds. For someone who already knows what they like, then yes it's pretty much a waste of time.

Sure, but if one doesn't know the difference between a Boli Corona Extra and a Cohiba Sublime Extra besides that they have different names, than what difference does it make?
