Why should anyone draw a line on what someone makes? We all make money in some way. Clint has just chosen the wrong profession. He has zero clue how to re-sell ciagrs. Let the markes determine the price. If you don't like a price: A. offer a lower price and undercut that person. B: Or provide a lower price source.  To do nothing and bitch about a free market system is just wrong.

Case in Point:
"Truly sorry that this sale has made some people so angry.
I based the price off of availability, production #'s, and prices I have seen in completed sales. Based on pricing of completed sales, this IS  the fair market value, whether you like the price or not.
Would you sell a 1967 Ferrari for it's original price? Or even a limited production, special edition Ford Mustang from 2011 for it's original price? Of course not, and the same applies here:These limited, HTF cigars are automatically dumped into the collectible market, and the market WILL consistently pay way over MSRP
It's a simple fact based on supply and demand....I din't invent anything here, folks!"

See the dude is a Moron. There is noting you can do about. I suggest ECON 101 for some light summer reading and a new way to make money.

Well said. I guess if I have to draw a line my line would be on this particular type of sale, if we just move on because we don't like the price that really helps no one but the person over charging. Real HTF's and older Cubans I would keep quiet myself because I do not or may not know enough to be sure of what I say in this case there is no doubt at all.

To me it is just wrong and sorry if others disagree but that's why we call them opinions.  To answer the question of how we determine price if I was to sell I would sell for what I paid give or take a buck. I am not here to make money, I have no friends who are in this to make money either. Now in ten years if I have been holding stock that has increased a shitload more than I paid I would have to see then what I would do, probably sell at market value and yes to me that is a different story all together.

Wow! LOL

You didn't really read what I wrote, did you?!

You have no clue about the collectibles market nor how value is determined by scarcity or rarity.

Watch an auction someday, or better yet, go over to BOTL and watch how much a box of T10's or Boris or Opus X sells for.

Then you will see how a rare, scarce, and/or limited production item sells at a premium...On a regular basis.

This is a fact, not an opinion, yet you attack me with your opinion! What a laugh, dude! Grow a sack.
Denial is not just a river in China...

Which begs the question...why not just sell these to the fanatics on BOTL?  Hell...if you would have grabbed a sharpie and scribbled PJ on the boxes you could have gouged for another couple of hundo...

Clint,
Bottom line is that you can charge whatever you want for those cigars.

I think the two main issues causing the anger here is that: 1 At least one of these boxes is still available for half of what you are charging (give or take.  They had 23 boxes at $262 last I checked); and 2. That you are trying to make a huge profit on these cigars within months of the release.  Most of the people who come here aren't into the profit.  They're here for the camaraderie and to buy/sell at or close to cost to fellow BOTL.  While I don't get upset about this sort of thing I can't imagine that you'd be surprised that people would get upset about this type of price hike.  It kind of goes against the spirit of most people on this site.

P.S. If it's supply and demand then there isn't enough demand for 23 boxes to fly off the shelves at $262.

LOL.  This is so fun to watch.
Try and sell whatever you want for whatever price you want. However, you should not assume that everyone subscribes to your line of thinking. That is where you fail here Clint and no amount of you trying to draw illogical comparisons or defending your position is going to change the opposing sides position. And unlike other boards, this is exactly the purpose of the BattleZone, where you will get called out.   Most are in this hobby for the cigars and the brotherhood. Others are in it to try and turn a quick buck.  You've proven time and time again which side you have chosen and that's fine. But don't expect a welcome mat.

It's interesting to see where people draw the lines on what is acceptable or not.  I'm not suggesting I would actually want someone to catch on fire, but I find the idea that someone would make an extra $200 on a box of cigars strictly based on the hope the prospective buyer doesn't realize he's getting fleeced to be MUCH worse than some angry words typed on an online cigar BB.

Maybe's it's because I've been online for so long and I understand that what people say and especially type isn't necessarily the same as what they would really do vs the fact someone gouging another out of $200 is a real palpable action with a real effect.

and that's just my two cents...

Gentlemen,

I agree with you and Smelvis totally.  I was never suggesting that we sit back and do nothing.  As I stated earlier, thanks to Smelvis for the link, that's how you combat gouging.  I could say that I can't stand gouging c*cksmokers too, but that only makes me seem angry and childish.  Address the issue, post alternatives when you can, and conduct your as a gentleman.  I know that I'll appear old fashioned or snooty for saying that, but let's not sink to their level.  Name calling isn't helping out of fellow BOTLs but I understand that it just feels good sometimes to say what's on your mind.

Clint's responses speak for themselves and he won't go far here.  Give em enough rope to hang themselves and they will.  I think that looking out for other BOTLs is great, but is used by some (not saying that is the case here) just to rant and stir chit.
