Need Help

I am new here and new in Cuban cigars . A friend wants to sell me a box of Monte #2. When I look on line it seems to me the box is a fake. The code on the box is as follows.

Hi Tommy.  First, good for you for looking to do your homework before pulling the trigger.  There are more fakes then there are real Cuban cigars in existence, and that goes double, no triple, for Monte 2's. 

The box code your friend is quoting you makes no sense at all.  There should be three letters denoting the factory that the cigars were rolled, in followed by three more letters denoting the month that they were rolled, an finally numbers indicating the year of manufacture.  This system has been in use by Habanos SA for over 10 years now.  Hope this helps and good luck!

Your friend has a 3/11/11 box already in hand.  Did he pick it up himself from the factory?

If that is all that is on the back of the box, and he did not pick it up from Cuba himself, it is as fake as my acting career (i.e. REALLY fake)...
