To be totally honest, I have no issue with this at all, and I don't think even making a modest profit is a terrible thing either.  I realize it may seem like a contradiction but it isn't in my mind...  I just think someone calling out a guy selling a box of BHK56's for $650 is ok...if noone wants to listen what's the harm?  As everyone keeps saying it's a free market, the market will bear xx price, etc...

This may be a news flash but negative press is part of it too.  In order for all of this to work you have to take the bad with the good.  If one person keeps bashing your prices but everyone else says it's fair and your stuff is selling, then the system is working.  If everyone agrees the price wasn't fair and your stuff isn't selling, isn't that now the price the market will bear?   Isn't this the system at work too?

I don't get where all the complaining is coming from.   If these Price Police are truly lowering the prices EVERYONE can get for their cigars then pretty quickly noone will be willing to sell anything anymore and the price will go up; supply and demand right?   Either you want a real free market, or you don't...you can't complain about the price being less than what you want when noone is forcing you to sell anything for less than what you want to sell it for.

But like I said...ask whatever you want, I personally don't care if people are selling at a loss, at cost, or even making money...I just think if someone *IS* gouging (defined as selling for way more than it's worth) they should be prepared to get called on it.   Like BHK56's for $650 which is how this got started...

That's a great post.  Very well said.

$650 for a box of February BHK 56 is not gouging if that box code ends up being real. March boxes of 56 are going for $600 from a well respected vendor.

I have just never understood all of the commenting on price. If there is no interest in the price being asked then the seller will pull the sale or reduce the price.

I understand the brotherhood thing to a point but we are all grown ups here. We can all spend 10 minutes to do a little research and decide if the price is something we are willing to pay.

Just a case of the haves vs. the have-nots...the have-nots just want to bitch and moan coveting what other people have and what they're trying to sell something for.  It's like people that like to complain about "the rich".

I wonder how many of these "policers" would walk into a Cadillac or Lexus dealership and cry about their prices being too high?

I now consider myself a "have not" as I have not $1000 for the LGC jar which was just posted and which I have been coveting for quite some time now

Here's the place to call the seller a gouger because that's probably more than he paid right?  ;)

Why don't you save your right-wing ramblings for the CF Political Room? You are hijacking an interesting thread with sheer stupidity.

Not everyone 'with money' subscribes to an ethical system based on mere exploitation of self-interest. Save your boring stories of your days as a 'procurer' and save all of us your petty philosophizing.

This has been an interesting conversation that explores the gray areas that inform a lot of our decisions to trade cigars. For you to make condescending assumptions about the respective material stations of the people participating in the debate is beyond insulting.

That's your problem-you want to focus on gray areas when it should be black and white.  If the price is too high, just shut and don't freaking buy it or find yourself a cheaper hobby.

There's some '92 Partagas Lusi 5ers that popped up-it might be right up your ally to complain about the prices and call him a gouger.  After all, that's more than he paid.    ;)

Actually I am contemplating getting a fiver of those. Please refine your reading comprehension skills. Nowhere in my critique of your inanity did I specify my position on this matter. Hence my use of the word 'gray' (grey if you prefer).

My post is more addressed at your attempts to taint the discussion with extreme, unfounded political ideology.

I am not a price police officer. That being said, I am interested in the deeper questions that underlie this hobby of ours.

ah- so you're not really as arrogant and condescending as you'd like others to believe.  You're just a fucking troll.  My bad.  I'll now equate your handle with empty space, since you seem to keep saying the same crap, and throwing out the same insults, over and over and over again.  Thanks for clearing that up.
