Off to the USVI in the morning

In the early AM tomorrow I'm dropping down to the USVI and sailing back to Maryland on a Baltic 47.  I'll be out of touch for a couple of weeks.  I'm scheduled to get into Oxford, MD on the 7th assuming the weather is not silly.

I'm catching the boat at the US Yacht harbor in Red Hook on St. Thomas, but I'm only there for the night before we sail.

Have a good time, but watch out.  St. Thomas has not been the best area in the world for tourists.  The locals like to take advantage and a few tourists get shot or knived.  :'(

I've traveled a lot, and I've been worried 4 times.

Twice in the Philippenes, Once a guy with an M-16 got in the Jeepney with me, once when 3 guys with cane cutting knives (read machete) got in the Jeepney with me.  Stranded in San Juan and hitchiking across Puerto Rico and got a ride with 2 drunk guys in a jeep outside of a bar at 5 AM after one who actually spoke english convinced the other 3 that kicking my ass wanst worth the effort, and once when I was stranded in Havana with almost no cash left.

Unless someone decides to gun me down in the afternoon on the way to the marina from the Airport I should be OK.
