CCs destroyed in by water

Post by PeterD »

Hi all,
I just had a burst pipe in my basement that sadly flooded a humidor full of top-end CCs, unfortunately. While the replacement loss from my vendor is over $1200, I'm wondering how I should handle this with my insurance company. They (rightfully) want a full accounting of what was destroyed but how should I handle this, given the obvious situation of my being in the U.S.? I lost a total of roughly 30 sticks and I'm still in shock over what happened.

Damn!  So sorry to hear this.  Is it possible to report them as domestic cigars?

I tried to get my collection insured by my insurance company. They would not touch them at all. In fact the insurance agant referenced the lawyer who smoked his cigars and then filed a claim for fire damage. The lawyer got the money for the fire damage, but the insurance company filed charges of arson against him. I hope you get some money for your collection. Good luck and best of wishes that you do.

I had a buddy whose roof collapsed on his humis... he just claimed the value in cigars and they covered it...... just don't be silly and say "Cuban" anywhere.

Also... overestimate the value, as they generally cover only a percentage of the value.

Good luck!
