A buddy of mine his family is from Manzanillo (out east near Santiago) I asked how his family is doing. It's a fishing village, so there is some economy. However, they have 15 hour blackouts and haven't had water in 5 months. They have to pay a truck to bring it in, 5 CUP for 20 liters. Away from Havana or Varadero, Juan Q Publico has been abandoned. Wow John, that’s absolutely atrocious. Glad your friends are finding a way to make it but that’s really terrible.

In Havana there was a 24 hour blackout on 7/18/25. In one of those round table shows (Mesa Redonda) an electricity general said that there will be another 72 hour blackout in the near future. My guess is August. In another one of those round table shows an economic general said that they are going to have to "dollarize" more the economy than they thought. The CUP is trading at 390:1 vs USD, 3+ years ago it was 25:1. Water is also becoming a problem in Havana, most get it every 5-6 days. John
