MK05 selling fakes

Post by Valleycigarguy »

This is more of a caution than anything else but your boy brought receipts. Mark Kim posted an auction for some diplomatico grandes for sale. The price was good but it wasn't great It was comparable to bond Roberts. I went ahead and reached out to him gave him my phone number and we started texting I was going to take his lot. Everything sounded good and I checked his history he is a long-term member. I am a much newer member but I feel like I smoke enough Cubans to know my shit. Long story short we started texting and he told me about some sticks he had for sale and some of these sticks were absolutely just hard to find but that was my first red flag. I'm from Los Angeles and every Middle Eastern dude and their cousin here has access to really high quality fakes and some of the cigars he had available for sale I have seen the very high quality fake versions for as well.

Long story short when I received the grandes they just seem off everything about them is off they're weirdly shaved they don't smell Cuban. When I took a closer look I took a look at the labels and I realized the labels are just complete garbage. I went down to Bond Roberts and I looked at every single auction that had sold not a single one had a label comparable to the ones he had sent me. If you notice especially in the middle of the car there's absolutely no detail at all.

So pretty much he is selling fakes I'm not sure what his reputation is but a lot of people have dealt with him so this is just something to keep an eye on.

I will say his communication was on point I'm not sure if he was doing it intentionally or he just does not know what sources he is buying his cigars from but he was quick to refund me my money so I got to give him that.
This is just a cautionary tale and I also put out some pictures for you to reference.

Any questions or concerns My DMs are open like an only fans school girl.

Those bands and the cigars themselves look pretty terrible. Marc has been around a very long time, has a great reputation and has always dealt in the higher end stuff...I hope he can chime in here with some origin details.  MB

His communication was great and he was quick too give me a refund so nothing against that. I put up this post because if somebody else bought some sticks from him unknowingly that might have been questionable they can potentially see what's going on.

The Diplomaticos band is the old regular production type. It is not what is officially supposed to be on that cigar, I agree. I have been getting in touch with the others today to let them know, and offer refund plus cost of shipping back. I'm not here to knowingly sell fakes.

Have a good long weekend

No pictures of box/serial, if not microprint and provenance?

Whoa…

I came close to pulling the trigger on those and was disappointed that they were no longer available.

Close call, I guess.

Glad to see that you two are working things out amicably.

Damn, those SCDLH Roques are great cigars.  Never see those around. Too bad.
