Johnny O EL E2 Reserva

Post by Sandman »

Merry Christmas! Today I’m starting with a fresh E2 Gran Reserva from Johnny. These are no regular E2. They are fantastic cigars, as I smoked one the other day also. The wrapper flavor is phenomenal, with an interesting sweetness, with cedar, exotic wood, and cinnamon on the edge of the finish. Great Partagas core flavors, but this is top notch tobaccos. The complexity in the first third was amazing. Some parts of this stick remind me of some of the Partagas anniversary humidor sticks over the years. There’s a sweet earthiness, nice coffee and leather notes. There is a nice strength to this cigar, not overpowering, but it keeps the cigar lively. This is very full flavor, and that flavor is very nice. The one I smoked the other i day I nubbed into nothing. I’ll be buying more of these.

I have some of these settling down as well. Tried one from the first batch after resting for a month or so. Delightful stick - and like John’s EL sticks - it will have a place in my rotation until these are gone. Can’t say I had a pure Wow moment, but per my log it was a solid 90 with notes of hay and English tea. Was thinking of dipping into that bundle again soon - as the stick I smoked in December still had a relatively high MC for me (I think it was around 67). So who knows what I’ll get when they settle in closer to 63/64

When my timing is right though I’ll continue to pick some up. Probably shouldn’t have posted here if it encourages anyone else to get some  :bangin:

I think these are pretty good, especially if you like the Partagas profile. The construction on these are top notch and they smoke really well. I think these will be a limited time offering so I'm might snag another bundle. Whoever got the last one offered, you're welcome. I had to pass them up, had bigger fish to fry.

I agree they smoke better than the production E2s.  My buddy and I smoke two regular E2s, and they started well, spicy like most partagas, but then they were quite mild after the first inch or so.  They were smooth and really enjoyable but once we fired up the JO E2 GRs immediately after, there was no competition.  JOs are better than the factory E2s hands down.
