VSGs......best cigar the Fuentes ever rolled

Over the last 48 hours, I've smoked 2 CGs and 2 Illusion.  These were from Ekerts sale last week.  Both boxes were 20+ years old.  While the cigars were quite firm with very little give, they smoked like a dream!  We all know something happened in 2006 when the 'cabinet' was removed from the bands, anything pre 2006 are absolutely legendary.  Since my home board was CF, I've been blessed by some of the most generous humans on the planet.  So many one offs like, Little Riches, OR PJs, planet 9 something or other......all were great cigars.  But these old VSGs in the smaller ring gauges are just different.  Still complex, still medium + in strength.  The retrohale is still spicy!!!!!  Dare I say my desert island cigar......not sure.  Those ER spellbounds were amazing albeit I haven't had one in 10 years. 

It's been a hell of a cigar smoking weekend.  I haven't been this excited about a cigar in a long time.

Scored some 20+ y/o VSG's from Ekert's sale also.  These sticks held up after all these years.  Plenty of body left in them.  Current version can't hold a jockstrap to pre-band-change. 

Nothing as legendary as the rounds or the ER's IMO though.

The pre '06 VSG are stellar. I need to revisit these this summer.

Need that’s such an ugly word, we probably don’t “need” any cigars, but personally I just need a couple more whenever I stop at the shop!
