Re: Cigar BR Auction News… How did it go?
I like how 2022 has no sales fees. First sale was a good one and took me to Gold level so next one should take me to Platinum or so. Sales fee zip but withdrawal fees $20-50? I can live with that.
Especially when beaver dollars are like fake money compared to yours. :smiley-cool:
You guys rock.
Will be in Chicago on Saturday and shall wave to y’all. :lookatme:

Watch for the current auction of Diplomatico RE Spain. No reserve and at $305. 15% fees for buyer but like tax at store anywhere. Might go through the roof at two minutes but still think this could be good. Love Diplo and love Spain.
Interesting.

Re: Cigar BR Auction News… How did it go?
Learned something new today so thought I would share. Submitted 4 items for auction as usual. Two have started and are doing fine.
1. 2008 Bolivar Gold Medal
2. 2017 Montecristo A box of 5
Two were declined.
1. 2019 Montecristo Dumas
2. 2019 Partagas Culebras
Both complete boxes, mint condition.
The reasons:
Hello Lisa ,
We have a minimum 3-year age limit on all regular production and LCDH releases excluding:
* All Cohiba vitolas
* H Upmann Sir Winston
* Trinidad Fundadores
* Trinidad La Trova
* Ramon Allones Gigantes
* La Gloria Cubana Medaille d'Or No 4
* Partagas Lusitania
* Punch Double Corona
* Hoyo de Monterrey Double Corona
* Montecristo Especial
* Partagas 898 Varnished
* Sancho Panza Belicoso
* Quai D'Orsay Coronas Claro
* El Rey Del Mundo Choix Supreme
* Diplomaticos Number 2
* Saint Luis Rey Regios
There are no minimum age requirements for Limited Edition and Regional Editions.
That is why you could not select 2020 from the Year drop-down menu and had to enter 2020 manually.
Regarding the Partagas Culebras, your starting price did not meet our pricing policy. The disapproval email you should have received explained the reason for disapproval.
Kind regards,
Bond Roberts Admin Team
I had the opening bid at $200. They think it should be $100. I will think about it.

When pricing your auctions, do you include shipping cost? or do you tack that on after the auction is over?
I've been including shipping with high-dollar lots and adding it on for relatively low dollar auctions, but I'm curious what other sellers do.

My observation has been that international shipping is tacked on additionally, even for high dollar items.

I've been shipping only to US because I was leery of having to fill out a Customs form.

After the auction ends, you learn where the winner’s address is and you ask their shipping address. It might be different than the registered addy on the sight. So many Chinese guys have a friend or relative here in Canada and just ask you to send it there. The usual shipping cost from here to China is $130. Then it will get there in 2 weeks. It is a small box, marked souvenirs. Shipping in Canada or the US is $25 and Include coffee from my company.
It must always be that way because you hit buttons, add shipping then they pay the total to BR. When you ship out, you provide your tracking, close the auction and collect your $.
If some dick does not answer their email from BR within 72 hours, they get kicked off BR and you can re-list.
I have 12 positive FB and really like it.
Ask any other stuff. Even by email.
Cheers.

Re: Cigar BR Auction News… How did it go?
So on a different note, are there any sellers here shipping to China? Is it working for you?
I've now had non-receipt claims on 3 of my last 5 packages I've sent to China. This seems highly improbable to me. I am going to end up refunding the full price for yet another box sold and shipped to China.
The problem with China postal system is that they do not do any any tracking or delivery notification once a US package is in their system.
I am wondering if Chinese buyers know this, and know they can assert they did not receive a box, and the buyer will have no means to prove it was actually delivered.

Re: Cigar BR Auction News… How did it go?
Great question and so important to discuss regarding auctions off of BR. Many of my auctions go to China, Korea, Japan and Europe. I ship by Canada Post to them for $130 and tracking. It takes two weeks. I have not had an angry email yet, only positive fb, so I assume all is ok.
Of course buyers in the USA are no problem and I add a half pound of my coffee to compensate for shipping. I included a rare cigar for foreign packages.
Only one auction went differently and the winner had an Arabic name. Package was to go to Paris for $130 in two weeks. He said he did not care how much it cost, it was Monday and he wanted it by Friday.
Ok, you got it, buddy! $300.
